about

Drift Away was first written primarily by Andrew in about 2010 and first appeared on the band's self titled 2011 EP. Lyrically it basically serves as a manifesto for the lyrical content of much of the other songs, expressing the basic function of much of the band's music and preferred listening material as an escape from mundane everyday life and an existence seen as devoid of objective meaning.

lyrics

Live your life without question, an empty hollow existence
Fail to observe and analyze, examine, rationalize, justify
It's just the same thing every day, carry out your tasks like a drone
No meaning, nothing at all, I hope your structure falls

Chorus:
Now I will drift away to the place I am free
I reject this mundane existence, reality
Such pointless monotony, I prefer my fantasy
Just a speck of nothingness, life devoid of a purpose

There is no rhyme or reason, no answer to my questions
Some people just don't give a shit, content with this banality
I prefer life with meaning, a life that can't be found
So I invent it in my head and get the fuck away from here

Chorus
